Enterprise Treat Day

What a treat filled dayAfter all their hard work with the ‘Grow a pound’ challenge the Year 5 children decided their treats would begin with a morning at the Lido.

After all that swimming we were ready for lunch, and what a treat we had in store, fish fingers, sausages, burgers, all rounded off with a healthy portion of …….chips!! Well it was a fun day out.

Not quite satisfied with just a main course we headed to Kaspas for a well deserved pudding. Well, we had done all that swimming.

All Year 5 had an amazing day. They each had their own budget and had to work out what they could afford as well as being responsible for looking after their money. The remaining money will go to a local charity, as yet to be decided. We have all learnt that working hard brings its own rewards. Well done Year 5 for being a fantastic bunch of children who really embraced the challenge. You did ssoooooooo well, we are all proud of you.

End of the day

We ended our Viking day by playing Viking chess.

Finally the new king was crowned.
Hail king Sam!

Victorious Viking Day

What an exciting day we had today, all dressed as Vikings we were given our mission to make a long ship to send our brave and courageous leader, Eric, to Valhalla his final journey to the gods. To do this we need to build a Long ship fit for a king…

We measured, sawed, painted and made fabulous boats.
After lunch we processed to Forest Schools where the fire was ready to take Eric to Valhalla.

We have had an amazing Viking day.

Year five’s Super Humanities Day 4th July

Today was a blast!!!!! We had a great opportunity to visit Bourneside and experience life at secondary school. Our journey began in the lecture room, where we were taken through the events of the day.

We were split into two different groups including two other schools, and then our inspirational tour of the school began.

We looked around the Art block, saw the sports hall, had a look at D&T rooms as well as the highlight of the tour – the dining area.

We then had a lecture from a University of Gloucestershire about philosophy and then had a talk by a University lecturer on American History and the history behind the 4th July, American Independence Day.

After lunch we had a lecture about university and geography.

We had an amazing day and a real insight about a day in the life of a secondary school.

Thanks to all the staff at Bourneside and the University Lecturers, we can’t wait to start Year Seven!!
